That’s the whole of it: one address, read by the person who publishes the site. There’s no form on this page, and that’s on purpose. This site collects nothing about its visitors, and a form would change that. Your own email client is the form, and it keeps the message between you and us.

If a page is wrong

This is the message we most want. If you’ve just been turned away from a drop-off point, or you’ve read the source and found the page doesn’t match it, you know something this site doesn’t. Corrections are what keep it worth reading.

Report a correction, or write to the address above with Correction in the subject line. What helps:

• Which page. The address from your browser, or the page title.
• What’s wrong, as specifically as you can. “The unit at my Woolworths refused a power tool battery” is far more useful than “the bins page is wrong”.
• The source, if you have one. A link to the operator’s own page, a photo of the sign on the bin, or the name of the store and the date you were there.

What happens next: a person reads it and checks the claim against the source, the same way as everything else on the site. If the page is wrong, it gets fixed and its Last verified date moves. You won’t be named, on the page or anywhere else, without being asked first. The privacy page covers that. How the checking works is on how this content is maintained.

What we can’t help with

Saying this plainly saves you waiting for a reply that wouldn’t help.

• An emergency. A battery that’s smoking, hot, venting or on fire is a call to 000, not an email. If a child may have swallowed a button battery, the Poisons Information Centre is 13 11 26, and the ACCC’s advice is not to wait for symptoms.
• “Where can I take my battery?” We deliberately don’t hold drop-off data of our own. The operators’ locators are live, and ours would go stale. Start from the main recycling page, which links to them.
• Anything on behalf of B-cycle, the NSW EPA, a council or a retailer. We’re not affiliated with any of them and can’t answer for them. What a particular collection point will accept on the day is between you and them.
• Advice about your particular battery. This site is general information. The operator or authority named on the page is the one whose instruction you follow, and the terms of use explain why.

Everything else

Questions about the site, a request to reuse material for a council newsletter, a school resource or a workplace induction, or anything about privacy: same address. For reuse, the answer is usually yes. Please ask first.

What to expect

It’s one person’s inbox. Expect a reply within a few days rather than within the hour, and a reply from a person rather than an automated one. Nothing you send gets added to a list, because there is no list.
